Wakefield Council

find out what’s planned

The Council owns approximately 50 hectares of land. This land had been farmed until works on the new road started two years ago. It is the Council’s intention to lease the land again for farming once the Wakefield East Relief Road has opened. The Council is also considering whether the pylons located on this piece of land should be undergrounded, in order to improve the views across the site and improve the promotion of the site for development.

The Council’s land offers great potential for development and has been identified for further housing development and educational use. The land also offers a central location for the City Fields development as a whole where connections to other parts of the site can be maximised including the canal and river, Ferry Flash, adjoining neighbourhoods and local greenspaces.
